Sacramento CA (2/12/2018) – Blue Wave Products, Inc. (Blue Wave) is a St. Charles, Illinois, based company who manufactures pool pump and pool motors. Blue Wave sold or offered for sale 228 pool pump and pool motors in California, during the time period of July 2015 to September 2017.

This case was a result of California Energy Commission (Commission) staff research. The Commission’s testing and investigation process identified Blue Wave manufacturing and offering for pool pump and pool motors that did not meet the design standard, were not marked properly, and were not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, Blue Wave executed a Settlement Agreement with the Commission on February 8, 2018, for $14,125.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley). Blue Wave has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify each basic model to the Database, add the required marking, and prevent sales of single speed products for use on residential applications before continuing to sell into California.
