Brightening House, Inc. Case Settles for $43,406

Sacramento CA (10/25/2021) – Brightening House, Inc. (Brightening House) is a Guangdong Province, China, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Brightening House sold or offered for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, showerheads, and showerhead/tub spout diverters in California, from June 2020 to May 2021.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Brightening House was manufacturing and offering for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, showerheads, and showerhead/tub spout diverters that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Brightening House executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on October 21, 2021, for $43,406.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Brightening House has agreed to a compliance plan to remove non-complaint models from the California market. Brightening House also agrees to add the appropriate marking and test and certify all compliant models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
