Homewell Group, Ltd. Case Settles for $35,000

Sacramento CA (9/9/2021) – Homewell Group, Ltd. (Homewell) is a Hong Kong, China, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Homewell sold or offered for sale showerheads in California, from July 2015 to August 2020.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Homewell was manufacturing and offering for sale showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Homewell executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on September 9, 2021, for $35,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Homewell has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant models in California, and to add the appropriate marking and certify all compliant models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
