Kennedy International, Inc. Case Settles for $500

Sacramento CA (5/19/2021) – Kennedy International, Inc. (Kennedy) is an Old Bridge, New Jersey, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Kennedy sold or offered for sale showerheads in California, from January 2017 to August 2020.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Kennedy was manufacturing and offering for sale showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Kennedy executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on May 19, 2021, for $500.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Kennedy has also agreed to a compliance plan to remove the non-compliant models from the California market, redesign the non-compliant models to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
