Gloucester MA (12/5/2017) – A man is facing charges in connection with a 400-pound tuna found missing in the woods of Gloucester.

The Gloucester Times reports Harold E. Wentworth, 40, was arraigned in Gloucester District Court Monday on multiple connected charges, including improper disposal of waste.

The fish was found in late October. It was so large it required a tow truck to haul it from the scene.

The saltwater fish varies in species from the bullet tuna, which weighs up to four pounds, to the bluefin. The largest member of the family, the Atlantic bluefin, have measured up to 1,500 pounds. Atlantic bluefin tuna is a highly valued fish, due to the demand for its meat in sushi and sashimi, leading to overfishing.

Wentworth, of Gloucester, was arrested following an investigation into the matter by Massachusetts Environmental Police and NOAA Fisheries’ Office of Law Enforcement.
