Specialized Pavement Marking Fined

DEQ fines Specialized Pavement Marking for hazardous waste violations

Tualatin, OR (12/21/2017) —The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined Specialized Pavement Marking Inc. $7,400 for several hazardous waste violations.

The company unlawfully stored paint and solvent waste without a hazardous waste permit and in open containers lacking the required lids and labels.

DEQ also cited the company, without penalty, for having an inadequate spill control kit, failing to perform weekly inspections and failing to properly manage waste containing mercury.

DEQ issued this penalty because properly managing hazardous waste is crucial to protecting public health and the environment.

This is the third penalty DEQ has issued to Specialized Pavement Marketing for similar hazardous waste violations since 2006.
