Denver, CO (7/2/25) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with Mustang Water Authority resolving permit violations alleged in Notice of Violation/Cease and Desist Order Number MO-231127-1 (“NOV/CDO”).

The NOV/CDO filed on November 27, 2023 alleged that Mustang Water Authority violated permit requirements under a general permit at its wastewater treatment facility in Montrose County, Colorado.

Under the COC, Mustang Water Authority will pay a $30,922.00 civil penalty, which will be distributed to the State of Colorado’s Water Quality Improvement Fund. Mustang Water Authority completed all required corrective actions and returned to compliance. The COC, filed July 2, 2025, was subject to a 30-day public comment period.
