BARTONSVILLE ? Enforcement action against LTS Builders and a developer for the Dollar General store in Mount Pocono should move forward, the Monroe County Conservation District Board of Directors decided Thursday.

LTS was cited last month for moving earth at it’s Godfrey Ridge development without an approved erosion control plan.

Now that the company has built the required structures to catch sediment runoff ? bringing the site into compliance ? the board can determine the severity of the violation.
Company officials and the conservation district will meet to determine the fine.

Uncontrolled sediment from construction sites can cause erosion problems for downhill property owners, pollute waterways and damage sensitive wildlife habitats.

Repeated violations by the LTS on this site going back to 1997 accelerated the decision to seek a penalty, a move that is made only once or twice a year.
The developer and contractor for Dollar General in Mount Pocono have decided to split the fines for polluting water in the Paradise Creek watershed during construction of the store.

The violation is a result of the work the developer, The Zaremba Group, and the contractor, Berry Construction Company, did without proper erosion controls.

The amount of fines have not been finalized.
