DEQ fines United Pacific for underground gas tank violation

Hillsboro, OR (1/25/2018)—The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined APRO LLC, doing business as United Pacific #5457, $650 for failing to monitor underground gas storage tanks for leaks.

The United Pacific tanks hold gas for a Circle K gas station located at 5063 SE Tualatin Valley Highway in Hillsboro.

DEQ requires United Pacific to regularly monitor its tanks for leaks. In June 2017, DEQ inspectors discovered that United Pacific had only recorded seven of the required 12 previous monthly monitoring results for tanks at the Hillsboro site.

DEQ issued this fine because leaking underground storage tanks pose a threat to human health and the environment.
