(8/31/2022) – Fang Yu Mei, is a Guangdong, China based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Fang Yu Mei sold or offered for sale kitchen faucets, lavatory faucets, tub spout diverters, and showerheads in California, from November 2017 to March 2022.

This case was the result of an industry complaint. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) investigation and testing process identified that Fang Yu Mei was manufacturing and offering for sale kitchen faucets, lavatory faucets, tub spout diverters, and showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Fang Yu Mei executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 31, 2022, for $12,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Fang Yu Mei has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant models to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
