Jetson Electric Bikes, LLC Case Settles for $22,000

Sacramento CA (11/4/2019) – Jetson Electric Bikes, LLC (Jetson) is a Brooklyn, New York, based company that manufactures electric recreational vehicles. Jetson sold or offered for sale electric recreational vehicles in California, from July 2015 to February 2019.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Jetson was manufacturing and offering for sale electric recreational vehicles containing small battery charging systems that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Jetson executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on October 29, 2019, for $22,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Jetson has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
