QUALITY AUTO PAINT SHOP AND PIERRE PIETTE CONVICTED OF APPROVAL VIOLATION
SUDBURY ON (5/1/09) ? On March 11, 2009, 1141540 Ontario Inc., operating as Quality Auto Paint Shop, and Pierre Piette pleaded guilty to failing to prepare an operations and maintenance manual for a spray paint booth at an auto paint shop business in Sudbury. The company and Mr. Piette were charged following an investigation by the ministry?s Investigations and Enforcement Branch. The company was fined $4,000 plus a victim fine surcharge, and was given one year to pay. Mr. Piette was given a suspended sentence.
RUSSELL WESLEY FINED $7,500 FOR DRINKING WATER VIOLATIONS
DRYDEN ON (5/1/09) ? Russell Wesley has been fined $7,500 plus a victim fine surcharge, after pleading guilty on March 17, 2009 to ten violations under the Safe Drinking Water Act relating to drinking water treatment, sampling, reporting and work to be completed. Mr. Wesley was given one year to pay the fine. A Court Order was also issued requiring complete compliance with the Provincial Officer Order by June 15, 2009.
The Court heard that Mr. Wesley is the owner of the Willowdale Trailer Court drinking water system located in the Township of Wainwright. The water for the Willowdale Trailer Court is supplied from a drilled well and is disinfected with chlorine. An inspection of the drinking water system found many issues of non-compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. A Provincial Officer Order was issued requiring Mr. Wesley to complete work on the drinking water system, confirm adequate treatment, undertake proper sampling and to provide written documentation to the drinking water inspector. Most of the work ordered was not confirmed by the required dates.
Mr.Wesley was charged following an investigation by the Ministry of the Environment?s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
LA CARS INC. AND ALEX LITVINE FINED $27,000 FOR DRIVE CLEAN VIOLATIONS
TORONTO ON (5/1/09) ? LA Cars Inc. has been fined $25,000 and Alex Litvine fined $2,000, after pleading guilty on March 13, 2009 to violations under the Environmental Protection Act. The company pleaded guilty to submitting false or misleading information to the ministry and was given two years to pay the fine. Mr. Litvine was given one year to pay the fine.
The Court heard that Mr. Litvine operates LA Cars Inc., a used vehicle dealership in Toronto. In February 2006, the company sold a 1995 Mercedes Benz. The company used a false emission certificate to transfer the vehicle registration to the purchaser. Mr. Litvine also provided a copy of the false emission certificate to the purchaser.
The company and Mr. Litvine were charged following an investigation by the Ministry of the Environment?s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
SHELDON LOCKE FINED $6,000 FOR DRIVE CLEAN VIOLATIONS
SCARBOROUGH ON (5/6/09) ? On April 1, 2009, Sheldon Locke was found guilty of submitting false or misleading information to the ministry and distributing a document that falsely indicated a motor vehicle complied with maximum emissions standards. Mr. Locke was charged following an investigation by the ministry?s Investigations and Enforcement Branch. Mr. Locke was fined $6,000 plus a victim fine surcharge, and was given one year to pay.
MEADOWS END TRAILER PARK INC. FINED $3,500 FOR VIOLATING THE ONTARIO WATER RESOURCES ACT
LINDSAY ON (5/6/09) ? On March 27, 2009, Meadows End Trailer Park Inc. pleaded guilty to failing to obtain a Certificate of Approval to extend the existing sewage works at its trailer park in the City of Kawartha Lakes. The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry?s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
Meadows End Trailer Park Inc. was fined $3,500 plus a victim fine surcharge, and was given six months to pay.
