Denver, CO (2/22/2024) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with the Town of Del Norte (“Del Norte”) resolving water quality violations alleged in the COC. The COC alleged that Del Norte violated the Water Quality Control Act (“Act”) and permit requirements at Del Norte’s wastewater treatment facility in Rio Grande County.
Under the COC, Del Norte will build a new mechanical wastewater treatment facility and decommission its existing lagoon facility to achieve compliance with the Act and its permit. The COC, filed February 22, 2024, was subject to a 30-day public comment period. The COC is available for viewing at https://www.colorado.gov/
