State of Colorado’s WQCD Reaches Agreement With Lawrence Construction Company to Resolve Water Quality Violations

Denver, CO (12/19/2019) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with Lawrence Construction Company resolving construction dewatering violations alleged in a Notice of Violation / Cease and Desist Order (“NOV/CDO”). The NOV/CDO, filed January 18, 2017, alleged that Lawrence Construction Company violated the Water Quality Control Act and permit requirements at construction projects in Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, and El Paso Counties. Under the COC, Lawrence Construction Company will pay a $33,547.00 civil penalty, distributed to the State of Colorado’s Water Quality Improvement Fund, and make a payment of $62,187.00 to Children’s Hospital Colorado as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project for lactation spaces and a composting program at its Denver and Arapahoe County facilities. Lawrence Construction Company completed all required corrective actions and returned to compliance. The COC, executed on October 17, 2019, was subject to a 30-day public comment period.
