State of Colorado’s WQCD Reaches Agreement with Pueblo West Metropolitan District to Resolve Permit Violations

Denver, CO (2/2/2023) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today
announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with Pueblo West Metropolitan District resolving water quality violations alleged in a Notice of Violation/Cease and Desist Order (“NOV/CDO”) and in the COC. The NOV/CDO filed October 27, 2021 alleged that Pueblo West Metropolitan District violated permit requirements and permit limits at its wastewater treatment facility in Pueblo County, Colorado. Under the COC, Pueblo West Metropolitan District will pay a $50,000 civil penalty, which will be distributed to the State of Colorado’s Water Quality Improvement Fund. The COC, issued on February 2, 2023 was subject to a 30-day public comment period.
