State of Colorado’s WQCD Reaches Agreement with Town of Romeo to Resolve Wastewater Operator Violations

Denver, CO (3/10/2023) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced an Order for Civil Penalty (“OCP”) with Town of Romeo resolving wastewater
operator violations alleged in an Operator Certification Notice of Violation (“ORCNOV”). The ORCNOV filed November 29, 2022 alleged that Town of Romeo operated the Town’s
wastewater treatment facility in Conejos County, Colorado without a properly certified wastewater operator. Under the OCP, Town of Romeo will pay a $8,100 civil penalty, which will be distributed to the State of Colorado’s General Fund. Town of Romeo completed all required corrective actions associated with the ORCNOV. The OCP is available for viewing at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/wq-penalty-orders.
