Liftboard. Inc. Case Settles for $11,398

Sacramento CA (9/19/2019) – Liftboard, Inc. is an Edina, Minnesota, based company that manufactures electric skateboards. Liftboard, Inc. sold or offered for sale electric skateboards in California, from December 2016 to January 2019.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. The CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Liftboard, Inc. was manufacturing and offering for sale electric skateboards containing a small battery charger system that failed the marking requirement and was not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Liftboard, Inc. executed a Settlement Agreement with the CEC on September 13, 2019, for $11,398.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Liftboard, Inc. has also agreed to a compliance plan to add the appropriate marking, and test and certify all models before they sell in California.
