Sacramento CA (9/18/2019) – Strong Industries Inc. is a Northumberland, Pennsylvania, based company that manufactures portable electric spas. Strong Industries Inc. sold or offered for sale portable electric spas in California, from July 2015 to December 2016.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. The CEC’s investigation identified that Strong Industries Inc. was manufacturing and offering for sale portable electric spas that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Strong Industries Inc. executed a Settlement Agreement with the CEC on September 13, 2019, for $100,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Strong Industries Inc. has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all basic models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
