Water Inc. Case Settles for $51,700

Sacramento CA (6/23/2021) – Water, Inc. is a Carson, California, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Water, Inc. sold or offered for sale kitchen faucets and showerheads in California, from July 2015 to April 2020.

This case was the result of an anonymous complaint. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) investigation and testing process identified that Water, Inc. was manufacturing and offering for sale kitchen faucets and showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Water, Inc. executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on June 21, 2021, for $51,700.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Water, Inc. has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant models to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
