10/25/2022 – Bellaterra Home, LLC (Bellaterra) is a Sacramento, California based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Bellaterra sold or offered for sale showerhead-tub spout diverter combinations, showerheads, and lavatory faucets in California, from February 2018 to February 2022.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Bellaterra was manufacturing and offering for sale showerhead-tub spout diverter combinations, showerheads, and lavatory faucets that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Bellaterra executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on October 25, 2022, for $7,500.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Bellaterra has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue sales of non-compliant products in California.  If Bellaterra chooses to sell in California in the future, they agree to redesign the non-compliant products to comply with the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and test and certify all models to MAEDbS.
