Sacramento CA (4/25/2023) – Shenzhen Xiangqianchong Creative Technology Co (Shenzhen Xiangqianchong) is a Shenzhen, China based company that manufactures portable air conditioning (A/C) units, dehumidifiers, and wine coolers. Shenzhen Xiangqianchong sold or offered for sale portable A/C units, dehumidifiers, and wine coolers in California, from October 2018 to November 2022.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Shenzhen Xiangqianchong was manufacturing and offering for sale Colzer brand portable A/C units that did not meet the efficiency standard and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS). Subsequent investigation revealed that the Colzer brand dehumidifiers and wine coolers were also not certified to MAEDbS.

To settle this matter, Shenzhen Xiangqianchong executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on April 25, 2023, for $20,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Shenzhen Xiangqionchong has also agreed to a compliance plan to no longer offer for sale portable A/C units and dehumidifiers in California and certify all wine cooler models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
