State of Colorado’s WQCD Reaches Agreement with the City of Arvada to Resolve Violations of the Water Quality Control Act

Denver, CO (6/6/2024) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with the City of Arvada (“Arvada”) resolving violations of the Water Quality Control Act (“Act”) alleged in Notice of Violation/Cease and Desist Order/Clean-up Order Number MO-230426-1 (“NOV/CDO/CUO”). The NOV/CDO/CUO, filed on April 26, 2024, alleged that Arvada violated the Act during an unauthorized discharge to Little Dry Creek from Arvada’s collection system in Jefferson County, Colorado. Under the COC, Arvada will pay a $22,500 civil penalty, which will be distributed to the State of Colorado’s Water Quality Improvement Fund. Arvada completed all required corrective actions associated with the NOV/CDO/CUO. The COC, filed June 6, 2024, was subject to a 30-day public comment period.
