State of Colorado’s WQCD Reaches Agreement with the City of Northglenn to Resolve Water Quality Violations

Denver, CO (05/10/2023) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with the City of Northglenn (“Northglenn”) resolving water quality violations alleged in a Notice of Violation/Cease and Desist/Clean-Up Order (“NOV/CDO/CUO”) and in the COC. The NOV/CDO/CUO, filed August 23, 2022, and COC alleged that Northglenn’s June 16, 2022 sanitary sewer overflow (“SOS”) in Adams County, Colorado, constituted unauthorized land application and unauthorized discharge to state waters.
Under the COC, Northglenn will pay an $18,900 civil penalty. The COC, issued May 10, 2023, was subject to a 30-day public comment period. The COC is available for viewing at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/wq-compliance-orders-consent.
