TCEQ Approves Fines Totaling $386,688

Austin TX (5/9/2018) – The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $386,688 against 22 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.

Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: two air quality, five municipal wastewater discharge, four petroleum storage tank, six public water system, and three water quality.

Default orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: one multimedia and one public water system.

Included in the total is a fine of $152,625 against East Texas Municipal Utility District of Smith County for wastewater quality violations stemming from failure to comply with permitted effluent limits at various times in August 2015 through April 2016. As part of a Supplemental Environmental Project, the entire amount will be used by the district to perform repairs and improvements to the district’s wastewater treatment plant.
