TCEQ approves fines totaling $888,868 – Penalties assessed against 17 regulated entities

Austin TX (11/20/2019) – The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality today approved penalties totaling $888,868 against 17 regulated entities for violations of state environmental regulations.

Agreed orders were issued for the following enforcement categories: three air quality, one Edwards Aquifer, three multimedia, two municipal wastewater discharge, three petroleum storage tank, two public water system, and one sludge.

Default orders were issued for the following enforcement category: one air quality and one multimedia.

Included in the total is a fine of $194,040 against Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, LP, for air quality violations stemming from failure to comply with maximum allowable emissions rates, at various times from 2017 through 2018. As part of a Supplemental Environmental Project, $97,020 of the amount will be used by the Barbers Hill Independent School District for the Energy Efficiency Building Upgrade/Retrofit Project.
