Symmons Industries Case Settles for $6,612

Sacramento CA (12/13/2021) – Symmons Industries (Symmons), a Braintree, Massachusetts, based company that manufactures plumbing products. Symmons sold or offered for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, and showerheads in California, from July 2015 to February 2021.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Symmons was manufacturing and offering for sale lavatory faucets, kitchen faucets, and showerheads that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Symmons executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on November 24, 2021, for $6,612.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Symmons has also agreed to a compliance plan to discontinue selling the non-complaint models, add the appropriate marking, and test and certify all compliant models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
