State of Colorado’s WQCD Reaches Agreement with Weld County to Resolve Permit Violations

Denver, CO (3/4/2021) – The State of Colorado’s Water Quality Control Division today announced a Compliance Order on Consent (“COC”) with Weld County resolving violations alleged in a Notice of Violation/Cease and Desist Order (“NOV/CDO”). The NOV/CDO, filed September 18, 2019, alleged that Weld County violated permit requirements at two highway construction projects in Weld County. Under the COC, Weld County will pay a $24,500.00 civil penalty, which will be distributed to the State of Colorado’s Water Quality Improvement Fund. Weld County has also completed all required corrective actions and returned to compliance. The COC, filed March 4, 2021, was subject to a 30-day public comment period.
